Deep in bowels of a studio complex in Utrecht, NL, sits Tinlicker, a solitary robot, working his fingers to the core, intent on the creation of a new style and sound. Piloted by Micha Heyboer (of Black Sun Empire fame) and Mike Luck. Tinlicker sits between melodic techno and true house, deep and driving, but with melodies and emotion.
The robot’s first outing was on Micha’s own Zero Three Zero with the album Remember The Future, a huge release containing 22 original tracks plus 2 bound tracks, picking up strong blog and press attention, while Jordi was busy unleashing his Mike Luck project, with his Cityscape EP. After some tweaks and the addition of one Jordi, they are ready for their next release on Feed Me’s newly launched Sotto Voce, with there EP Like No Other, a 5 track offering showing the full scale of what the pair can produce, from 80’s triplet bass, to modern gleaming techno, through dark driving drums, to ethereal synths
Tinlicker is Micha’s first step outside of his hugely established D&B outfit, Black Sun Empire. Made up of Micha, his brother Milan and high school friend Rene Verdult, BSE are entrenched purveyors of darkstep-fuelled drum n bass with five albums under their belts and a committed worldwide fanbase. Tinlicker is Micha out let for all thing’s 4/4 and anything below 170bpm
Jordi cut his projects Mike Luck’s teeth at the eminent Kitsune and Eskimo, before moving to Be Yourself for the release of his huge Cityscapes EP. A self confused music studio nerd, dub, disco, electronica, and house can all be a heard in his productions, with an over riding electronica feel, giving his records a certain West Coast vibe, while still drawing heavily on his european sensibilities.
